Green Forums: Finca La Argelia

Meet Alejandro Ariza, learn more about his family's story, and discover his farm. They started in the coffee business over five years ago, thanks to a friend of his father, the legendary Diego Bermúdez. Their farm, La Argelia, is located in Inzá, Cauca, Colombia, at an altitude of 1,640-2,000 meters above sea level. Surrounded by three majestic volcanoes and strategically positioned in the Andes Mountains, the sandy loam soils contribute unique attributes in aroma, fragrance, body, acidity, and balance.

His father's farm covers 9 hectares, of which only 4.5 are cultivated; the rest is forest protection. The portfolio he's presenting includes regional washed coffees from Inzá, Cenicafe 1, Rume Sudan, Maragogype, Pacamara, rosé bourbon, Chiroso bourbon, and Sidra bourbon.

He has been processing his coffee naturally for three years, without yeasts or co-fermentation, experimenting with timing, oxidation, and maceration.

This farm has just been certified as -Co2, guaranteeing that the beans from his farm contribute to a positive environmental impact.

This tasting is special for several reasons, but the fundamental one is trying to connect the origin with unique experiences and cups inspired by the history of Tierradentro, to the roasters, specialty coffee shops and coffee lovers who value the work on the farm.

The Green Forums is an event series that invites producers and importers alike to share their stories and their coffees in an informal setting. Coffees will be made available to sample. This is a free event open to the public.
